What to Expect at Your First Appointment

1. Initial Consultation
Maddi hears about your health history, pregnancy and birth experiences, scar history, symptoms, and your goals for abdominal massage.
This allows Maddi to understand your body as a whole and tailor the treatment to your individual needs.

2. Initial Abdominal Massage
Within the same appointment, Maddi works from the rib cage down to the pelvic bone using slow, supportive massage techniques to release tension and restriction through the abdominal area.
The treatment focuses on improving circulation, mobility, breath connection, and nervous system regulation.

3. Scar Release Therapy
Treatment will gently begin around the scar and surrounding tissues. Techniques such as therapeutic massage, cupping, and gua sha may be used to support scar mobility, reduce restriction, and encourage reconnection to the area over time.

4. Reflection & Ongoing Support
At the end of your session, we’ll discuss how your body responded to treatment and any reflections from the appointment. Because this work is often cumulative, a minimum of three sessions is generally recommended to allow the body time to release, adapt, and build on each treatment.

This is very common, and you are absolutely not alone. Many of our clients come to their first c-section scar massage feeling disconnected from or uncomfortable with their scar. The timeframe for when you feel comfortable enough for a practitioner to touch and see your scar is entirely your own. Our approach is gentle and unhurried, and Maddi will always meet you exactly where you are - whether you have or haven't yet looked at or touched your scar.

No - c-section scar release at Live Well is a full abdominal massage treatment. Maddi assesses and treats all areas of the abdomen from the rib cage down to the pubic bone, including the diaphragm, intercostals, abdominal muscles, and lymphatic zones, as well as your breathing patterns. Scar massage and scar release therapy is then additional to all of the above, making this a truly holistic postpartum treatment.

Your initial c-section scar release consultation is 90 minutes and is $180.00, giving Maddi time to understand your full health history before beginning treatment. Follow-up appointments are 75 minutes and are $160. All appointments are held at our massage clinic in Onehunga, Auckland.

Because scar release work is cumulative, most clients begin to notice changes after their first or second session, with more significant and lasting results building over time. We generally recommend a minimum of three sessions to allow your body to fully release, adapt, and heal between treatments. Many of our clients continue with monthly sessions as part of their ongoing postpartum wellness routine.
